Why PDFs are so annoying (and why it’s not your fault)

PDFs are built to look the same everywhere, not to be easy to edit. The good news: with the right tool, common fixes are simple and private.

Nobody wakes up excited to deal with a PDF.

You can open it, sure — but the moment you want to change something, everything gets weird. The file is huge. One page needs to go. Two PDFs need to become one.

“Why is this PDF so big?”
“Why is deleting a single page so hard?”
“Isn’t there an easy way to just… fix it?”

The problem isn’t that you’re doing it wrong. The problem is that PDFs were designed for consistency, not flexibility.

A PDF is basically saying:

  • “Don’t touch me.”
  • “Keep me exactly like this.”
  • “Make me look identical everywhere.”

But real life doesn’t work like that. People need to:

  • merge files
  • split a document
  • remove a page
  • reduce file size

And that’s completely normal.

The good news: you don’t need to learn the PDF spec. You just need a tool that matches the job — and keeps your files private.

That’s the whole idea behind FilKlar: simple tasks, local processing, no upload.
