When a tool uses the cloud (Pro) — what happens to your file
Some FilKlar tools (e.g. compress, OCR, PDF→Word) use a Pro layer that processes files on a server. Here’s what that means: retention, deletion, and what we log.
Most FilKlar tools run entirely in your browser — no upload. A few heavier tasks (compression, OCR, PDF to Word) offer a Pro option that uses a server. If you use that, your file is uploaded for processing. Here’s what happens.
What we do with your file (Pro)
- Processing only. The file is used to run the job (compress, convert, etc.) and produce the result you download.
- Short retention. Processed files are kept only as long as needed to complete the job and allow download; then they are deleted.
- No repurposing. We don’t train models on your content or use it for anything other than that single job.
What we don’t do
- We don’t keep your file for marketing, analytics, or “improving the service” in a way that reuses file content.
- We don’t promise “no upload” on Pro-backed pages — we say clearly when the file is sent to the server.
If you prefer zero upload, use the client-side version of the tool where we offer it. When you choose Pro, you get more power; we keep the rules above so you know where you stand.
